With a seamless ability to be one of those people who make being a hyphenate look easy, actor Jesse Johnson is on his way to proving that while the apple may not fall far from the tree, he is certainly capable of creating his own path.
Actor, singer, screenwriter - Johnson will soon be seen in the major motion picture "Prey," directed by George Miller ("The Neverending Story II," "The Man from Snowy River"). In it he plays the role of "Gus," an American vacationing with friends who wander into a sacred Aboriginal site in Australia and fall into a 100-year-old curse. The supernatural thriller, shot over two plus months on location in Melbourne, is expected for release in late 2008.
Johnson has finished work as the lead in the movie, "My Life: Untitled" (2008). Heading up the cast as "Bobby," whose youthful dabbling with drugs leads him down a path of self-destruction and, eventually, redemption, this film manages to showcase all of Jesse's talent; in nearly every scene, and aging from a high school student to a married father, Johnson portrays a character who has hit rock bottom while trying to keep it together for the sake of his family. Brutal, honest and challenging, My Life: Untitled is directed by Miguel Velez and co-stars rapper Sticky Fingaz and Rachel Hunter.
Prior to Prey and Untitled, Johnson starred as “Jason” in the 2007 film Redline. His television credits include an appearance on Nash Bridges and the 2003 TNT Award Winning original drama Word of Honor. Currently attached to two projects, Dead Whisper, starring Dominique Swain and Frances Fisher, and The Disciple, Johnson is gearing up for a busy year. Dead Whisper, a paranormal chiller that explores re-visiting nightmares, will film in New Orleans. The Disciple, a character study about Jesus Christ with Johnson playing John The Baptist, will be filmed in Spain.
A native of Aspen, Colorado, Johnson currently lives in Los Angeles. The son of actors Don Johnson and Patti D’Arbanville, Jesse combines his athleticism and love of the outdoors with his creativity, balancing weight training, snowboarding and ice hockey with song writing – the multi-instrumentalist is presently in the studio recording an album - and most recently, developing a screenplay.
